This year our “Read Aloud” project focuses on heroes in our town. Our first reader was Fire Chief, Jon Canada. The students toured the new fire department and learned firsthand about the many jobs that the firemen have in our community. Our second readers were Mary Hart and Phillip Wilheit. Mary read a great story and Phillip conducted an auction. Upcoming readers include: Cheryl Christian, Director of Good News Clinic; Police Chief, Brian Kelly; Council woman, Myrtle Figueras; City Manager, Kip Padgett; Former Mayor and UGA board member, Sissy Lawson; and Georgia’s First Lady, Sandra Deal.
